About Me

In 2001 I opened an agility training center—Blue Lightning Agility Sport Training in Port Orchard, Washington in order to help people understand and build relationships with their dogs. To do this, I currently teach all levels of agility classes and give private agility lessons. I also offer seminars locally, as well as around the country and in Canada. I am a NADAC and ASCA judge and a member of Rainier Agility Team.

Throughout my life, I have been deeply interested in how humans communicate with each other and with their environment. For the past 20 years, my energy has been focused on how humans relate to their dogs, and on what they can do to develop and enhance that relationship. Getting to know and understand your dog is not a simple proposition: it takes work, patience and knowing something about the relationship. My role at Blue Lightning Agility Sport Training is to help you in your journey to a fruitful and loving connection between you and your dog. Please contact me whenever you are ready to begin or to revise that journey. Blue Lightning Agility Sport Training can give you the tools you need to succeed.

I was born in Minnesota, graduated from the University of Minnesota and later received a library science degree from the University of Denver. Following my years as a librarian at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado, I decided to move to Seattle and enroll in a master’s program in social work at the University of Washington. After working for years as a therapist helping people with issues in their lives, I made a major career change because of my lifelong interest in building successful relationships between humans and their pets.

I have had wonderful dogs whom you can meet on the My Dogs page. Over the years I have had numerous champions and true friends as you will see.

Please email me if you are interested in learning more about what I do and are ready to commit to building the relationship with your dog that you have always dreamed of.
